It’s in the deepest darkest moments of my life t It’s in the deepest darkest moments of my life that some of my work has been able to bloom. Our lives are attracted to suffering and struggle. Perhaps to learn, relearn, or unlearn experiences that no longer serve us. I’ve always recognized that some of my most successful projects, written works have come when I’m in my deepest darkest moments of life, and I want to celebrate that there is beauty in pain. Over the last few weeks I’ve been traveling and it’s during times of isolation and silence while I’m resting for the upcoming work, is that I often go back and fourth thinking, what if this career doesn’t work? What if I left the environmental movement that is constantly centered on purity and holiness when in reality as humans we are all complex emotional beings. I have sometimes the biggest self doubt whether or not the career I have today is sustainable because it currently relies on unsustainable models but it also brings me joy at the time of not having a structured schedule. I can’t wait to release some projects that I’ve been developing, that have taken some time to execute. I thank @eco.tok @sustainthemag @philthefixer @krystalframe We hosted a two-day event. One was an Eco-Happy Hour Hour Event where our tickets were only $5 and the sales went directly to fundraising for the food fridges. We fundraised over $1,000+ and ensured all the meals we bought were plant-based. From our in-kind donations from our sponsors, we ensured they were also sustainable, plant-based foods. Our grateful sponsors also provided clean hygiene products. At our event, we also had a local environmental justice organization, @poder.austin to teach people about solar equity, different booths of information for people to talk about sustainability, and live music concerts and panels. Why did you move back to Los Angeles? My newest VL Why did you move back to Los Angeles? My newest VLOG on YouTube is now live to talk about why I moved out of the East Coast. While it has taken time to record vlogs, I promised you all that I’d share some more personal updates in my life 📕🤠 One of the reasons for moving out of the East Coast was the fact that it helped me become who I wanted to be, which was to establish my career. Moving from the West Coast to East Coast was a major culture shock but also an opportunity to learn about myself in the ways I showed up in the world. Second: As I’ve been going more into content creation, producing, writing, and comedy I want to be able to enter more acting, producing shows, and overall expand my networks. I found that Los Angeles is a tough city and as someone who grew up here, having my family here keeps me grounded as an individual. I’ve been working on independent self-funded media projects. Third: I want to adopt a dog. I used to have a huge phobia with dogs growing up and I love them so much! I knew that Los Angeles would be a better option once I’m ready to adopt (after I get my license). The IPCC AR6 Synthesis Report Summary  is now av The IPCC AR6 Synthesis Report Summary  is now available and there are some good and bad news. Here is a logistic summary.     ⁃    The IPCC AR6 Synthesis Report Summary (available from 2pm CET Monday 20th March 2023)     ⁃    Humans have permanently changed the planet. Climate change is already killing people, destroying nature and making the world poorer. While I don’t like their framing on the report of humans since fossil fuel industries are the ones killing the planet…     ⁃    We are currently far short of limiting warming to 1.5°C or even 2°C - the goal of the Paris Agreement. Current policies would lead to 2.7°C or more warming by 2100, and net-zero climate commitments would still produce warming of around 2.2°C.     ⁃    Damages will accelerate as temperatures rise further, causing unprecedented costs to people, economies and the environment that will be worse than any seen so far.      ⁃    Poor economies have been hardest hit by climate change and people in poorer countries are most likely to die from extreme weather.     ⁃    Deep emissions cuts now, a rapid phaseout of fossil fuels, and a small amount of CDR and CCS are the only way to limit this.     ⁃    Efforts to adapt to climate change are underfunded, but adaptation cannot be an alternative to emission cuts.     ⁃    An electrified global energy system, powered by clean renewable power and storage, gives countries their best chance of energy security and a safer, fairer world. Countries that have adopted low carbon policies are already seeing a drop in emissions.     ⁃    Climate finance is cheaper than paying climate damages, and must be prioritised. I’ve been hosting more events 🤠 with @eco.tok I’ve been hosting more events 🤠 with @eco.tok and co hosted our first one with @sustainthemag , @philthefixer @krystalframe @sabrina.sustainable.life to bring Austin environmentalists together during SXSW. We made sure to keep tickets accessible in price starting as low as $5. After the event we fundraised over $1,000+ in ticket sales to donate to local food fridges in Austin, Texas as we recognize the privilege we have to be visiting spaces and wanted to return the favor to the community for allowing us to be in the space. I’ve found that so many brands showed up for this event and it makes my heart happy that I’m able to use my platforms to help leverage for social events and social good, because what brings people is music, food, drinks, panels, and people! If you told me that I’d be meeting @yarashahidi If you told me that I’d be meeting @yarashahidi and @lisapjackson I wouldn’t believe you… I attended the @green4ema Impact Summit where I met so many people in the entertainment, tech, and business sector to see how they are addressing the climate crisis. The recent show that is set to come out this Friday is Extrapolations that is based on the future effects of climate change. I attended the premier the day before and there is a scene of a Conference of Party Badge that is shown on the floor and showcases the realities of the failure that happened with our global governments. Lisa P Jackson served orignally as the administrator of the US EPA from 2009-2013 and now head of Apples Environment. policy, & Social Sustainability. I moderated tell panels yesterday on food systems and green jobs board. This year I’m trying to do more public speaking and include some comedy in my speaking. Why I don’t support nuclear energy ☢️. When Why I don’t support nuclear energy ☢️. When @wedonthavetime0 invited me to be on a panel with an environmentalists who is pro nuclear and two others who were against it (me and Kristy), I had to be adamant on why I don’t support it despite seeing some of the strong arguments supporting nuclear energy as a clean energy transition for the US. In my time of research, I have seen the US government fail to hold corporations accountable for their negligence but also the lack of policy shift that goes into extra steps of safety regulations. Not only that but from an environmental justice perspective, there are several Indigenous communities who have had to face the impacts of nuclear colonialism. When I read up on Diablo Canyon in the state of CA I saw some of the valid critiques and concerns over them shutting it down because it does present a significant amount of energy to California which is already in a massive energy crisis. To this day, I do think that there are organizers trying to repurchase parts of the land to go back to the Indigenous communities, however, it’s not my say since I am not involved in that project. What I will say is that I will continue to not support nuclear energy in the United States because of their negligence to protect the people. Holding space for multiple truths, like the possibility of a better future and the world we have now, is key. Reading a recent article posted by the Guardian if for-profit businesses can truly incorporate regenerative business model systems outside the dominant extractive system. “If you’re serious about [the climate crisis] and this is your business, you’ve got to develop a level of comfort with contradiction,” said the chief executive, Ryan Gellert, sitting in his wood-paneled office. “The idea of ultimately running a regenerative business, that is the biggest idea that we’re capable of, and we’re a long, long way from realizing that.” Many young people are looking for careers in sustainability after college and it's so hard! When I graduated college, I was rejected from all environmental non-profits. They all told me I didn't have good climate work experience documented, and I needed clarification about what that meant and got a job at a random startup. Both non-profits and for-profit companies live in messy contradictions in their work. It doesn't matter what job you have in a field. There is sometimes no pure ethical ness that exists because certain sacrifices and rules are bent within businesses to be able to continue scaling up. Of course, this statement is limited beyond systemic-level conversations regarding developmental projects and environmental destruction. Businesses need to address the climate crisis and admit to their environmental impact on the earth.
